Star Cruises was founded on a more relaxed style of cruising for Asians. Langkapuri Star Aquarius, the first Star Cruises ship, sailed from Singapore to destinations in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia while its second ship, Star Pisces, sailed from Hong Kong to destinations in Hainan Island, Southern China and Vietnam.
Star Capricorn made her maiden homeport debut in Keelung with itineraries to Japan.
SuperStar Leo and SuperStar Virgo, the first two German built cruise ships for Asia, began their homeports in Singapore and Hong Kong.
Acquired Norwegian Cruise Line and introduced a new and more relaxed cruise and multiple-dining experience for the United States and international markets; built 15 new cruise ships for NCL to propel it to be the world’s 3rd largest cruise line. Genting Cruise Lines sold all its NCL shares by 2018.
Acquired Crystal Cruises, “The World’s Most Awarded Luxury Cruise Line”, and extended the brand from ocean to river and expedition cruises with six new vessels.
Created Dream Cruises, “Asia’s Luxury Cruise Line”, with two 150,000 gross ton ships arriving to homeport in Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Singapore featuring innovative facilities including Singaporean icon, Zouk at Sea.
During the summer, Explorer Dream will homeport in Shanghai and Tianjin to create more brand awareness for Dream Cruises in Eastern and Northern China. Taking the next step to become “Asia’s Global Cruise Line”, during the winter, Explorer Dream will cruise outside the Asian region by cruising in Australia and New Zealand with homeports in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland.
The first 20,000 gross ton “Crystal Endeavor” polar-class expedition yacht will join Crystal Cruises to begin luxury expedition voyages to the Arctic, Antarctic and other exotic destinations.
Global Dream, at USD1.8 Billion and 200,000 gross tons, will be the largest cruise ship to be built in Germany and the largest in Asia. The first “Global Class” ship will also feature a theme park, Cineplex, escalators, advanced digital technology and other unique features, in addition to a comprehensive list of facilities found in international cruise ships.
